A LITTLE ABOUT US...

Conceptualised in late 1977, the Barbados Shotokan Karate Club held its first class in January 1978 in the hall of the old Marine Hotel. As the club experienced steady growth, a Dojo was built at our present location in Hastings, Christ Church and was officially opened in 1982 by then Prime Minister J.M.G.M. 'Tom' Adams and Masatoshi Nakayama in the presence of Master Teruyuki Okazaki.

The club has grown as an organisation since then. We pride ourself on the quality teaching of traditional Japanese Shotokan karate, delivered by qualified instrcutors. Our members uphold long-established traditions of etiquette and challenging training based on the principles of the Shotokan Dojo Kun.

If you want to become a part of our Shotokan Karate family, join us at any of our scheduled classes. Membership is BBD $480 annually; however this may be paid monthly at just BBD $40. Discounts are applied for 3 or more family members. In addition, there is an annual BBD $30 Barbados Karate Association fee.
